Catherine Milliner Joins Miners’ Promise Board
Miners’ Promise Welcomes New Chairperson
Catherine Milliner
Miners’ Promise Board of Directors is delighted to announce the appointment of Catherine Milliner to the position of non-executive chair. Catherine served as non-executive Director for the past two years and takes over from long-time chair Richard Kern who has led the organisation since 2015.
Catherine brings with her over 25 years’ experience working in the WA health and resources sectors, starting as a Registered Nurse in Perth and then in Kambalda where she went on to join Kambalda Nickel Mines as an Occupational Health Nurse.
After moving back to Perth in 1995, Catherine worked in senior leadership positions across the health and resources sectors in occupational health, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, business development and governance.
Catherine is pleased to be joining the Miners’ Promise Board and brings with her a wealth of operational and governance experience. ‘After more than two decades working in health and resources, I was inspired by the work of Miners’ Promise and I hope to work with the Directors to ensure a strong future for this loved and respected organisation so we can support our mining and resources employees in their greatest time of need long into the future. I also wish to sincerely thank outgoing chair, Richard Kern, for his dedication and commitment over the past five years as chair and prior to this as non-executive Director. Under his leadership, the organisation increased the strength of the board function including a 50% gender split and raised the profile of the Charity. He has spent countless hours working to help improve the lives of our mining families affected by tragedy and crisis and we would like to recognise Richard’s passion and hard work. Richard will remain on the Board as nonexecutive Director’, said Catherine.
Catherine currently works as the Practice Development Manager for Midland Physician Services, St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospital managing the outpatient services for more than 35 medical specialists. She has been a Director of a corporate medical company, owned her own consulting business and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Catherine adds strength to the Board in the areas of strategy, governance and business continuity.
Established in 2010 and celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020, Miners’ Promise is an independent not-for-profit organisation and registered charity here to assist employees working in the Australian resources sector and their immediate family when impacted by crisis.
