Mining Legends Charity Rebuild Gala Ball
On behalf of all the resources sector families we support, Miners’ Promise wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to Michael and Jaymi Worthington and their extraordinary Worthy Parts team.
Saturday 26th October saw the unveiling of the Worthy Parts Mining Legends charity rebuild project. A wonderfully well used R2900G Loader donated by Northern Star Resources, Rand Mining and Tribune Resources has been rebuilt over the past 12 months through the donation of hundreds of thousands of dollars in goods and services from service provides from around Australia (Mining Legends).
KCGM proudly purchased the rebuilt Loader which has been aptly named Michaela – in tribute to Michael Worthington, and ‘she’ will be put to work on site. We extend our sincerest thanks to Cecile Thaxter and KCGM.
Miners’ Promise is honoured to have been one of the beneficiaries of the Mining Legends Rebuild Project that raised close to $1 million for charity.
Michael and Jaymi’s desire to make a difference to families in mining communities around Australia at their greatest time of need, has seen their visionary and inspiring fundraising concept become a monumental fundraising success, revered by all and which will positively impact the lives of so many families in crisis in our mining communities.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the dynamic Mining Legends Board of Directors:
• Michael Worthington
• Hugh Gallagher
• John Bowler
• Joselyn O’Dwyer
• Bill McKenzie
• And Project Manager Sean Wood
We would like to acknowledge the following extremely generous donors whose support made this project possible.
The Gala Ball also included another couple of incredibly inspiring moments – the initiation of an ‘ice bucket donation drive’ and a ‘stubby cooler donation drive’. The Miners’ Promise team were deeply moved when Caleb Pullella from Kal Tire and Shannon Robertson from Roly Industries used an ice bucket and stubby cooler to embark on an ‘ice bucket’ and a ‘stubby cooler’ donation drive and then spent the night tirelessly raising additional funds for Miners’ Promise – an additional almost $2,000 was raised. We extend our sincere thanks to you both – it was another extremely humbling moment.
